Sports Participation, Viewing and Fandom in the UK

Harris Interactive set out to understand UK sports in a holistic way, capturing:

  • Weekly participation in sports (matches, competitions, training)
  • Sports viewed in-person or via live broadcast
  • Sports fandom
  • As well as reporting these as separate KPIs, we have created a Sports Index to summarise engagement levels across a mix of 21 team and individual sports.

Research was conducted on the QuickSurveys platform, owned by Harris Interactive and Toluna, among 1,000 representative members of the UK population on September 13th 2019.
